Swapping my OEM spark plugs and OEM spark plug wires.


Starting the job.



Remove all the beauty engine covers.



You need to remove the strut tower brace.
You need a socket wrench and an 18mm deep socket.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts off the strut tower brace and remove.

Cylinder numbers. I like to number my coil packs to I put them back in same location.

Remove the electrical connector on the coil pack.



Electrical connector removed from coil pack.



Remove the electrical connnector to all coil packs.



You will need the following 10mm to remove the 2 bolts on each coil pack.



Remove coil pack.



All coil packs removed.
Be sure to "twist the wires around" before pulling them off the coil packs.
These 3/4 needlenose hose puller pliers do help.



All spark plug wires removed.
Be sure to "twist the wires around" before pulling them off the spark plugs.

You need a socket wrench that will angle like the one below.
You also need a 5/8" Deep socket designed for a spark plug.

This "wobble" adapter also came in very handy getting in there.

My plug #1 and #2 looked like this. The other 6 looked a bit better.
My car is mostly stock and stock tune with 42,000 miles.

Use Anti-seize on the threads and install all new 8 plugs.

Place a small dab of Dialectroc grease into the spark plug wire where the plug goes into.
Also place a small dab of Dialectric grease on the tip of the spark plug where the wire connects.
Install all 8 new plug wires.



Place a small dab of Dialectroc grease into the hole of the coil pack, and also around the outside.



Prepare all 8 coil packs for install.



Install coil packs. Remember to install both electical connection, and plug wire.



Install complete. Ensure all connections are completed.

Re-install all beauty covers and start the car to test new plugs and wires.
