Replacing the Differential Fluid in my CST-V



Differential Oil. Need 2 quarts




Oil Pump




Extra clear line




Get the front of the car on ramps




I use rubber sanding blocks on my jack stands




I use rubber sanding blocks on my jack stands




I use rubber sanding blocks on my jacks




Lift the rear of the car on both sides evenly




Its important for the car to be "level" to accurately
determine when the differential is full of fluid




Differential FILL and DRAIN plugs




Need 10mm Hex socket




Always remove the "FILL" plug first




FILL plug removed. Clean plug for re-install.




Get your drain plan ready




Remove the DRAIN plug




Notice the DRAIN plug is magnetic




Clean the magnetic DRAIN plug




Re-istall the DRAIN plug




Get your Differential fluid and pump ready




Get your Differential fluid and pump ready




Get your Differential fluid and pump ready




Insert the Tube into the FILL hole and pump.
Pump all the fluid into the Differential.
Once you start to see fluid coming out of the FILL hole your Differential is full.
You should use approximately 1.5 quarts to fill the differential.




Install FILL plug.




Look for any leaks before and after test drive.
GM recommends to do figure 8 turns in a parking lot to get the fluid into the clutch packs.
GM recommends 300 miles of easy driving before WOT runs.
GM says that it can cause rear end gear noise/whine noise if not broken in properly.
